Effects of Riparian and Wetland Restoration on an Avian Community in Southeast Arizona, USA

چکیده
We used a before-after-control-impact study across three years to assess the effects of active riparian restoration on bird densities and community composition. Birds density post-restoration on actively-restored plots averaged 25 birds ha -1 versus 15 birds ha -1 on controls. We conclude that active restoration should be pursued to benefit bird populations.

Drivers of songbird productivity at a restored gravel pit: influence of seasonal flooding and rainfall patterns and implications for habitat management
The restoration of riparian sites following aggregate extraction frequently aims to expand the wetland habitat, and enhance the wetland wildlife community. However, aggregate extraction sites, typically on river flood plains, are subject to unpredictable flooding along with climate variability and other factors beyond the control of local management that may be equally important in determining ...
متن کاملAgricultural wetland restorations on the USA Atlantic Coastal Plain achieve diverse native wetland plant communities but differ from natural wetlands
Wetland restoration is globally important for offsetting effects of wetland loss and degradation but is not consistently successful. Vegetation studies provide insight into the effectiveness of restoring wetland ecosystem functions. We compared plant community composition in 47 non-tidal wetlands under different management (natural, restored, and former wetlands that had been converted to cropl...
متن کاملHydrologic Budget Analysis of a Small Natural Wetland in Southeast USA
Temporal variability and linkages among hydrologic components of a natural riparian wetland in the southeast USA were examined using two years of measured data. Rainfall was the dominant inflow and evapotranspiration (ET) the dominant outflow for the wetland. The wetland response factor, defined as the ratio of runoff to rainfall volume, was small and surface runoff accounted for only 9% of the...

Knowledge concerning those avian species ...
